October 2014 — The Department of State (DoS) has selected TJ1 Global Solutions (TJ1) to evaluate and appraise the existing Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges (ASPE). With assistance from its Mentor-Protégé teaming partner, Interactive DoS SealTechnologies Group, Inc. (ITG), TJ1 and ITG will advise the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) on various options for cost-effective healthcare insurance coverage that meets the unique needs of the DoS exchange participant population.

“ITG has always had a deep commitment to helping and supporting new entrepreneurs as they attempt to reach their business goals,” said Mark Newsome, President and CEO of Interactive Technologies Group. “It is a great opportunity for ITG and the TJ1 Global Team to support improvements in healthcare coverage options for exchange participants and to assist the Department of State in achieving its goal to develop leaders and encourage understanding between cultures.”

During FY2013, ITG established an internal goal to expand its client base to include additional federal civilian agencies with specific emphasis on discovering opportunities to provide support to DoS. With this newly awarded contract, the company has met its goal of supporting the Department by the beginning of FY 2015. ITG leadership is pleased with the progress the Company has made since announcing its State Department objectives to employees, and looks forward to building on this momentum with other opportunities at the Department.

The Team will be responsible for conducting an assessment of the current ASPE program and other alternatives in the marketplace, and providing documentation to include a final set of analyses on insurance options and their estimated costs. In providing the assessment, the Team will also develop a proposed transition and implementation plan based on the recommended insurance options, as well as provide guidance and technical advice to ECA Program Offices and Program Managers in relation to healthcare programs, the Affordable Care Act, and the requirements of U.S. host institutions that receive the exchange participants.

“I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with our Corporate Mentor ITG and this Team on the ASPE contract,” said Tony James, CEO of TJ1 Global Solutions. “We have an unparalleled combination of health care subject matter expertise and State Department knowledge, and I know that we have the best team to succeed in improving the health care insurance options to the more than 40,000 U.S. and foreign participants.”

The Altarum Institute is the third member of the team and will also support the requirement in providing health care subject matter expertise. Altarum and ITG have worked together in other health care opportunities at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
